Oatmeal

It occurred to me that there are only few recipes with oat flakes on my blog. That’s weird because I can’t imagine having no oat flakes in my cupboard. I use them quite often, especially when I don’t have much time to prepare breakfast. But one can use oat flakes in so many different ways!

This time I would like to share with you this simple recipe for an oatmeal milk shake as an alternative to traditional breakfast sandwich. It’s a very nourishing, thick and tasty milk shake. One of the advantages of eating oatmeal is that you feel satiated after your meal for quite long. So you need only a blender, 5 minutes and breakfast is ready!

Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp oat flakes
  • 2 tbsp wheat bran
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2/3 cup soy milk (or other)
  • 1 banana
  • 2-3 tbsp forest fruits jam (or fresh blackberries, raspberries, blueberries)

Put oat flakes and wheat bran into a tall container, add hot water and leave for around 5 min. Next add a banana, soy milk and forest fruits jam. Blend until you get a smooth milk shake.

Isn’t that easy? It’s even simpler than preparing sandwiches for breakfast :).

Speaking of oat flakes, I’ve finally found oatcakes here in Poland (for reasonable price).

Well, I must confess, I’m crazy about them. They taste somehow special. Great snack or starter, especially with guacamole and fresh vegetables or with tofu cottage cheese. It’s a must!
